Playground installed by Willow Playworks at Chesterbrook Academy in Malvern, Pennsylvania

Safety & inspections

Play Starts With Proper Installation.

Safety on a playground is decided during construction. It comes from layout, anchoring, spacing, surfacing and accessibility being handled correctly the first time — not from a checklist completed afterward.

Built into the work

What safety looks like in the field

Willow Playworks uses CPSI installers, and these are the specific things our crews are accounting for on your site.

Proper equipment layout

Structures are laid out from approved plans so age groups, circulation and supervision sight lines work the way the design intended.

Manufacturer installation requirements

Every manufacturer publishes installation instructions. We build to them — hardware, torque, sequence and orientation included.

Anchoring and footings

Footings are set to the depth and dimensions the equipment requires so structures stay where they were installed.

Equipment spacing and use zones

Clearances between structures and the use zones around them are verified in the field, not assumed from the drawing.

Surfacing

Surfacing is installed to the specified depth and extended through the use zones, including at slide exits and swing bays.

Accessibility

Accessible routes, transfer points and ramp access are installed as specified so the space remains usable for everyone.

Inspection

We inspect our own installations before handoff, and we perform playground safety inspections on existing equipment.

Long-term maintenance

A safe playground stays safe through maintenance. We help owners plan repairs and recurring service.

Inspections

Know the condition of the playground you're responsible for

Annual playground safety inspections give owners a documented picture of equipment condition, surfacing coverage and the maintenance concerns that need attention.

  • Annual playground safety inspections
  • Certified inspections where applicable
  • Equipment and hardware evaluation
  • Surfacing evaluation and depth review
  • Identification of potential maintenance concerns
  • Written findings for staff, administrators or boards
